Behind the Scenes
I love this idea so much. I, like many of you I am sure, have been volunteering since my 24 year old son was in grade school. From that point on I was involved in raising funds for every team, PTA, or booster club that supported whatever he was involved in at the time. My daughter came along 7 years later and doubled that work load! Then I branched out and joined the board of North Canton Chamber of Commerce, Project Kare, The Children's Network and the advisory board of The North Canton Playhouse. As much as I enjoy my time on each of these boards I do fear depleting my wells by over-asking too much of my family, friends, neighbors, acquaintances and people I barely know ;-).
This idea makes so much sense to me! It's the entry-level commitment to the non-profit world! All we have to do as members is come together four times a year and donate $100 at each meeting to the presenting charity that resonated most with you. If you can't decide between the two, there are no rules in supporting them both! In this model there are no galas or dinners to attend that need organizing and chaired! No tickets to sell! No golf outings to push! We have no baskets that you will need to gather donations for. You literally will not have to ask anything of anyone other than yourself!
Along the way, we will learn about some of the fabulous initiative's in our community and the tireless work that the difference makers of these charities do and possible uncover opportunities for networking and connectivity. Undoubtedly we will make new friends, have fun, get inspired, learn, grow and make a difference!
FAQ
AS A MEMBER, DO I HAVE TO COMMIT TO THE WHOLE YEAR?
Yes. We only meet four times a year and if you are unable to attend we will provide information regarding the presenting charities so that you may select the charity that you would like to support in your absence. We would like to have a constant number of members to be a consistent support to the charities that apply.
CAN ANY CHARITIES BE RE-NOMINATED IF NOT PREVIOUSLY SELECTED?
Yes, absolutely! We are looking to help as many 501.3c organizations in Stark County, Ohio as we can, so please make sure you remain diligent in attending our voting meetings and renominating should your charity not be chosen.
CAN I INVITE OTHERS TO BE A MEMBER?
Absolutely! It is our goal to have 100 members however we wouldn't be angry if we went over that number :)
HOW DO I NOMINATE A CHARITY?
It's fairly easy, you will find instructions and a charity nomination form here on the website.
WHERE DOES MY DONATED MONEY GO AT CAUSE A RIPPLE?
100% of your donated money will go to those charities chosen at the presentation. All administrative costs will be absorbed by my husband and I.
